My website is done!

My website is done!

After beating around the bush for probably closer to 2 years, I’ve decided to finally take the time to complete my website, or at least add a homepage where I can share my various life endeavors. Since I recently deleted my Facebook, I wanted a way to share my undertakings, but didn’t want to re-enter into the realm of online social media. Despite the positive aspects of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., they all have drawbacks, which I believe greatly outweigh any positives. For me, there is just way to much fighting and negativity, so that’s that.

The new webpage is a simple WordPress, with a blog setup so that I can post similar to how I would on a Social Media site, but WordPress also unlocks the ability to do way more. For those of you who don’t know what WordPress is, I’ll explain:

…a free and open-source content management system based on PHP and MySQL. Features include a plugin architecture and a template system. It is most associated with blogging but supports other types of web content including more traditional mailing lists and forums, media galleries, and online stores.

For those of you who are not as technically inclined, let me simplify. When you get yourself a domain name and a hosting company, your website is probably going to be blank until you put something in place. Traditionally, you would hire a developer to code your website for you, but now, some companies, for example, WordPress, have created web applications that get installed onto your domain and hosting. These web applications give you the tools to easily design and layout your own website, by removing the barriers-of-entry typically encountered during webpage design before applications like WordPress became available. As it happens, blogs are one of the simplest things WordPress is capable of, with eCommerce and online selling being more complex functionality.
